Roper St. Francis Cancer Center Support Groups
Expressions of Healing – This eight-week workshop is for patients, survivors, family and friends touched by cancer. Led by the South Carolina Poet Laureate and an art therapist, participants express their feelings about cancer in their lives through poetry, journaling and art. Art or writing experience is not necessary. Materials, a light dinner and free parking are provided. Meets in the fall and spring, Thursdays from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. in Roper Hospital’s Parker Boardroom. I Can Cope – The Roper St. Francis Cancer Center and the American Cancer Society sponsor this four-session educational program for cancer patients and their families or caregivers. Program features guest speakers, education and support and is offered the first Tuesday of the month from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Roper Hospital. Dinner and parking are provided. Breast Cancer Support Group – Breast cancer survivors and those currently in treatment are invited to come together for encouragement, support and information. Each meeting includes a timely topic related to living well after breast cancer, followed by open-ended group discussion. Free parking and light refreshments provided. Meets the last Monday of the month from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Call 402-CARE to for more information and to pre-register.
Colorectal Cancer Support Group – This ongoing support group welcomes patients, loved ones and survivors affected by colorectal cancer. Meets the first Wednesday of the month from 4 p.m. - 5 p.m. in the Mall Classroom at Bon Secours St. Francis Hospital. For more information or to register, contact Debbie Krajick at (843) 720-8388.
